You’ve picked your colors, nailed the theme… but now you’re stuck between a balloon arch and a balloon garland—what’s the difference anyway? This is an extremely common question when you have no idea what you’re doing with balloons! Balloon arches and garlands often get mixed up, so let’s talk about what the difference between them is. Knowing the difference between these two can save you and your balloon decorator time, and money!! Let’s talk about a balloon arch vs. balloon garland!
Balloon arches, what are they? Well most of the time they are these things:

Balloon garlands are made up of balloons of course, but are NOT freestanding. They are most of the time hung or attached to a backdrop. Balloon garlands are much more versatile for smaller spaces or tighter budgets.
As you can see in the photo below, the balloons are attached to a pink backdrop and are not standing on their own as they are supported by the backdrop. This is why you see a lot of balloon artists have their own backdrops that are available for clients to rent so that you don’t have to spend as much money on renting an entire arch system.

| Feature | Balloon Arch | Balloon Garland |
|---|---|---|
| Setup Style | Freestanding | Hung or Draped |
| Frame Required? | Yes | No |
| Common Locations | Entrances, Finish Lines | Walls, Tables, Mantels |
| Space Needed | More | Less |
